Eine Au-pair-Kraft ist keine übliche Arbeitskraft und ist speziell im „Europäischen Au-pair-Abkommen“ festgelegt und in zwischenstaatlichen Verträgen geregelt.

Hat die potentielle Au-pair-Kraft bereits Erfahrung in der Kinderbetreuung? Gibt es Referenzen?). Daher ist die Organisation über eine Agentur, die Aufgaben wie diese übernimmt, empfehlenswert.
Become an Au-pair in Austria
Becoming an Au-pair means to be part of a family and help with childcare and housework. As an Au-pair you live with a family, whilst having your own room, and are included in the familys’ daily schedule. Your tasks can differ, but the main focus is on looking after the children and help with the housework. The most important thing about being an Au-pair is that you should really like children and taking care of them. Because taking care of them and spending time together is the biggest part of your Au-pair-life.

There are two possible ways to find a family: you can either organize it by yourself via platforms or you get in touch with an agency, that helps you in many important matters. This includes finding a family that is a good match for you, checking your working conditions such as payment and days off, and being there for you if there are any questions or problems, before and during the stay.

Please note: on platforms neither hosting families nor Au-pairs are “checked”, which means that things like living conditions, working conditions including payment, time-off etc. are not assured and you have to check on that all by yourself. You also have to organize everything about your travels including the right visa or maybe vaccinations, as well as insurances etc. So it’s recommended to get in contact with an agency, that does the organization for you.
